This love story is all about timing. 

 

We went to college together, both starting at Tufts in the Fall of 2003 (Go Jumbos!).  Some of Nithya’s best friends lived in Tim’s freshman year dorm, but that’s not when we met.  By the following year, Nithya’s roommate was dating one of Tim’s best friends and fraternity brothers, but again, we didn’t meet then either.  By our senior year, another of Nithya’s best friends was dating another of Tim’s best friends and crew teammates, but still nothing.  Somehow, four years, of these oh-so-close connections never actually brought us together.

 

We went our separate ways after graduation, Nithya moved to NYC for law school then to the southern border of Texas for work, and Tim headed off to St. Louis for a year and then to DC for graduate school.  Over these years, our orbits continued to draw closer.  Nithya made trips to DC to visit the mutual friends we had from college - and finally we finally met, but only in passing - becoming familiar names and faces, but nothing more. 

 

In the summer of 2013, Tim's graduate internship took him to State College, PA for a year and Nithya found a job in DC.  Nithya moved to DC just one month before Tim moved away.  Another near miss...

 

Finally, on a trip back to DC from Pennsylvania for a holiday party, it finally happened!  Our paths collided.  We talked and ate too many cookies and spent time harshly criticizing the movie Love Actually.  Tim came back to DC the next weekend, and the weekend after that. And the trips just kept happening.  We knew that it was love when we were both excited to meet up in Harrisburg (halfway between DC and State College). We knew that, despite all the near misses and oh-so-close connection, we met at exactly the right time.

 

And now we are both excited to start our married life in Washington, DC with our two cats, Gilbert and Jack.
